Women Of The World Celebrate Release Of 'LIVE' Album

Women Of The World Celebrate 'LIVE'

Growing up in Japan, Ayumi Ueda dreamed that one day she would be able to sing with people from all over the world.

While attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, she took it upon herself to form a group of like-minded musicians who were interested in fulfilling the same goal. That project eventually became known as Women of the World, winners of the Harmony Sweepstakes National Championship and, most recently, the first group to win the AcaOpen hosted by Varsity Vocals.

On March 8, International Women’s Day, Women of World will release their new album, “LIVE,” which captures the final concert of their spring 2017 North American tour.

Recorded and mixed by acclaimed engineer, Tony Huerta, Women of the World are looking to bottle up their live experience and allow people to take it home with them.

“We noticed that our presence on stage was palpable and something unlike all of our studio albums offer,” soprano Giorgia Renosto says.

“The album was many months in the making. We had been performing that music for a little over a year,  slowly improving our performance of all of the material. Then, it was all about doing what we usually do, except with it being recorded! So it was a really organic process.”

While it’s hard to pick a favorite song on the album, the group notes that one recording that is particularly close to its heart. Jacinta Clusellas, an Argentinian songwriter and dear friend of the group, arranged her song “Canción del Pajaro” specifically for the four voices of Women of the World.

If you aren’t able to catch Women of the World at the CD release concert at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston, the group will be touring internationally this year. Women of the World also plans to release a DVD of the new album and more online content to help their fans get to know them better.
