Legacy Clinches Spot In ICHSA Finals

Legacy Clinches Spot In ICHSA Finals

Legacy A Cappella made history this past weekend in more ways than one.

The Los Angeles-based auditioned community youth ensemble not only became only the second teen group without a school affiliation to reach the ICHSA Finals but also the first group to earn both an AcaOpen and ICHSA semifinal title. They join OSA Vocal Rush, who earned a spot at AcaOpen in 2017 as the ICHSA champions, as the only other group to perform on both stages.

On Saturday, Legacy earned its finals spot by winning the ICHSA West Semifinal at Napa Valley Performing Arts Center in Yountville, CA, with a total score of 447 — a full 116 points ahead of its closest competitor.

The group last performed in New York during the AcaOpen at Carnegia Hall in September.

We sat down with Legacy director Rob Dietz to talk about the experience, his ensemble's preparations for finals, and what else is going on for this talented group of singers.

Full results of the ICHSA West Semifinal are available through Varsity Vocals.
