The CASA (Contemporary A Cappella Society) events team has been diligently working on revamping their festival season and are hosting a brand new festival concept later this week!
With the expansion of the a cappella world, new events are constantly popping up on the festival circuit. Some are qualifying events for a bracketed competition, some float to a new location every year, and some are one-offs. Most of the bigger festivals require travel and lodging not only for the audience, but for the performers, instructors, and staff. Conversely, the smaller events typically don’t reach as far, leading to their own set of issues.
In case you haven't heard, CASA recently announced a new event series, LocalVocal by CASA.
Instead of adding more “destination festivals” to the CASA event calendar, LocalVocal comes to you. LocalVocal aims at being the best of both worlds: a franchised festival that sets up in your backyard, yet still has the weight and support of an umbrella organization like CASA.
The goal is to spotlight regional groups in the host city and engage these local groups, educators, and fans with each other in their community.
Each festival will feature workshops from local experts and a showcase of the best local groups.
