Two Finalists Ready For Harmony Sweeps
The 2018 Harmony Sweepstakes season is underway, and two regional champions have already earned their trips to San Rafael, CA, for the National Finals.
The 2018 Harmony Sweepstakes season is underway, and two regional champions have already earned their trips to San Rafael, California, for the National Finals on May 19.
This past weekend, 20/20 earned the Pacific Northwest title, and on February 24, Sweet Adeline quartet Up All Night bested the Mid-Atlantic field at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia.
Up All Night is part of the Vienna Falls Chorus in Virginia and is the reigning Region 14 Heart of the Blue Ridge champion. The group topped second-place finisher and Audience Favorite The District, which was one of the first groups to take advantage of the new size limit for competing ensembles. Longtime competitor Top of the Seventh grabbed third place.
Up All Night at The Birchmere
The fourth time was the charm for 20/20, which bested B-Side Book Club in second place and S’Pacifc Sounds in third. The Seattle-based 20/20 was also awarded Best Original Arrangement for its version of “Honey I’m Good.” Altra Volta of Calgary, Canada, took home Audience Favorite.
The next regional competition takes place this weekend at Columbia University’s Miller Theater in New York City.
Chicago competitors hit the stage on March 24, and San Francisco's Palace of the Fine Arts will host the Bay Area competition on March 31. Boston and Los Angeles competitions will be held in April.
