Strong Talent To Compete In ICHSA South

The top nine groups from high schools in the ICHSA South region will meet March 24 at New Manchester High School in Douglasville, Georgia, to compete for a ticket to the finals in New York City.

Semifinals host group InToneNation comes in with the highest overall quarterfinal score, but perennial standout The A Cappella Group will also be looking for another chance at Lincoln Center.

Hype

Alpharetta High School (Alpharetta, GA)
Quarterfinal Score: 324

Hype comes out of a strong choral program at Alpharetta High School, which has plans to tour Ireland this coming summer. With a third-place finish in its quarterfinal and Outstanding Soloist from Megan Jacobs, Hype should fare well on the semifinal stage.

Vocal Affinity

Myers Park High School (Charlotte, NC)
Quarterfinal Score: 350

An excellent blend and strong soloists helped Vocal Affinity earn second place in the quarterfinals, bolstered by student arranger Miles Caraballo, who won Outstanding Arrangement for "Creep."

rEagle Harmonix

Seymour High School (Seymour, TN)
Quarterfinal Score: 419

Just a year ago, the group had the opportunity to work with Avi Kaplan, the former bass of Pentatonix. This year rEagle Harmonix took first place at its quarterfinal, and sophomore Rhys Rousseau received Outstanding Vocal Percussion for "I Lived."

The A Cappella Group

Cypress Lake Center for the Arts (Fort Myers, FL)
Quarterfinal Score: 429

A longtime standout in high school a cappella, TAG will also be competing in the AEA Invitational at the National A Cappella Convention. A first-place finish and special award for Outstanding Soloist (Ryleigh Plank for "So Emotional") puts TAG back in running for another chance at ICHSA Finals in NYC.

After School Specials

Palm Harbor University High School (Palm Harbor, FL)
Quarterfinal Score: 361

This group made it to finals back in 2013 and is now in the running to return. The group took home Outstanding Arrangement for "Follow The Sun" at its quarterfinal.

First Take

Seminole High School (Sanford, FL)
Quarterfinal Score: 403

A strong performance and excellent work by student choreographers put First Take in first place in the quarterfinals and also earned Shannon O'Donnell and Jabari Kelly Outstanding Choreography for the entire set.

Noise Complaint

West Orange High School (Winter Garden, FL)
Quarterfinal Score: 364

With a second-place quarterfinal finish, a new single, and a CARA nomination, Noise Complaint is enjoying a great year. The group also took home Outstanding Choreography for its entire set.

InToneNation

New Manchester High School (Douglasville, GA)
Quarterfinal Score: 440

The quarterfinal standouts will also host the semifinals on their home turf. Following wins in Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Arrangement (“Love On Top”), Outstanding Soloist (Tyler Lewis), it doesn’t sound like they need the home-field advantage to help their chances of moving onto NYC.

Pitch Please

Northwood High School (Pittsboro, NC)
Quarterfinal Score: 364

The 2016-17 NCASA state champions and Total Vocal performers are primed and ready to take on the semifinals.
