The A Cappella Educator's Association's N.E. Voices vocal festival features a fierce high school competition streaming live on FloVoice, Friday January 26.

Not Just Any Voices at N.E. Voices

Although the first of the year, N.E. Voices is third festival of the A Cappella Educator's Association season. Kettering National A Cappella Festival is actually the start of AEA's season as it's at the beginning of the school year, followed by SNG! Texas.


Here are your 2018 N.E. Voices competitiors:


Ingrid Sound - Danvers High School

Ingrid Sound was one of the three unranked winners at N.E. Voices in 2017 and placed 1st at Haunted Harmonies in 2016. They've appeared multiple times on Varsity Vocals' "Best of High School A Cappella"(BOHSA) compilation album.   The group is directed by Alex Grover.


The Jewel Tones - Marblehead High School


Founded in 2003 and currently directed by Andrew Scoglio, The Jewel Tones made it to ICHSA Finals in 2010. Their 2007 album "The Jewel Tones: Tied Together" earned two CARA (Contemporary A Cappela Award) nominations and a spot on the BOHSA compilation.


Luminescence - Marblehead High School


MHS Choral Director Andrew Scoglio also directs the all-female Luminescence at Marblehead High School.  They  placed third at their ICHSA Quarterfinal in 2016 & 2017.


The Thursdays - Chelmsford High School


The Thursdays won one of the three unranked N.E.Voices winners last year, performed on Sing That Thing!, and made it to 2017 ICHSA Finals, placing 1st in their Northeastern Semifinal by 77 points.

They're run by N.E. Voices co-creator Amanda Roeder, who also founded Marblehead High School's Luminescence and The Jewel Tones.  During her tenure at MHS, the groups garnered 5 CARAs and 4 appearances on the BOHSA Compilations.


PNHS Northern Lights - Plymouth North High School


Northern Lights recently won Haunted Harmonies in October, 2017. You can find their post-win interview here.  They are run by N.E. Voices co-creator and Ithacappella alum Dave Grossman.


She Major - Wakefield High School


She Major was founded in 2014 and is a partially student run group, with a student director and co-choreographers.  They are supported by Ana Morel and placed third in the 2017 ICHSA Northeast Semifinals & Quarterfinals.


MHS Voices ReChoired - Marlborough High School


Voices ReChoired was founded by "Teacher of the Year" Shannon McNulty, who also founded the MHS Music Production class that has garnered BOHSA placements and a 2016 CARA for Best High School Arrangement.  The groups is currently directed by Caleb Whelden.

MHSound from Medfield High School is also competing.
