How To Win Show Choir National Finals
How To Win Show Choir National Finals
As the FAME Show Choir National Finals quickly approach on Saturday, April 22, in Chicago, we're taking an in-depth look at how groups will be scored based on their vocal and visual performances.
Show choir scoring is a subjective art.
Fame's show choir competitions feature the top show choirs from around the country and throughout the world. Developed to find a true national champion, the Show Choir National Championship Series includes six qualifying events and culminates with the FAME Show Choir National Finals on Saturday, April 22, in Chicago. As an open national competition, no divisions based on school size are considered in the series.

There are two competition divisions at all events -- the Open Divison for those beginning to intermediate choirs who wish to compete and the World Class Divison for advanced groups. The World Class Division acts as the qualifying round for the Show Choir National Finals.
The SCNCS uses a scoring system that was developed by a team of show choir directors and choreographers. Two score sheets are used for all regional events with two adjudicators assigned to each sheet. One sheet is dedicated to the vocal scores, while the other is dedicated to the visual scores.
Each regional event is considered a preliminary event leading up to the FAME National Finals. After each group performs its 30-minute set, the three mixed groups and two unisex groups with the highest scores will move on to the FAME Show Choir National Finals.
The scoring is all done via EJudicator on iPads. For each of the regional events, the sum of all scores will be used. The FAME National Finals will use a Consensus Ordinal Ranking system.
All competition sets and awards will be live-streamed on FloVoice on Saturday, April 22.
