EXCLUSIVE: M-Pact's New Lineup and Sound
Hailed "one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world" by the San Francisco Chronicle, m-pact is respected worldwide as a "cutting edge trailblazer in the realm of vocal music".

After a retooling period and a lineup change, m-pact is back with a new mission.  Emerging from an age of auto-tune and overproduction, m-pact 2.0 is cultivating a new generation of ears hungry for the fresh, raw power of nature's first instrument - the human voice.

"We chose the song 'Guillotine' first and foremost because we loved the song", drummer Jeff Smith told FloVoice. "Catchy hook, clever lyrical content, really tight groove. But, we also felt this song would be a cool way to introduce the new m-pact line-up to the world.

"Over the years, we have become known for taking classic hits of the past (Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, etc) and re-working them in new and imaginative ways. That is something that we will continue to do.

"But, with this new release, we also wanted to break from m-pact tradition a little bit and apply those same arranging techniques to a current artist & song. Since the production on the original recording of 'Guillotine' is so sparse and austere, we were forced to really take it in a different direction.  I think Andy did a really great job on the arrangement. It definitely has some trademark m-pact-ness, while still capturing some of the vibe of the original song!"
