Petra Haden Is Back To 'Sing Crimson'
Petra Haden Is Back To 'Sing Crimson'
Petra Haden is back with a slew of King Crimson covers.
Petra Haden was literally born into music (legendary jazz bassist and composer Charlie Haden was her father), and she hasn't stopped.
She just put out a new video of King Crimson's "Sheltering Sky."
"This was definitely the hardest of the KC songs I've recorded so far," Hayden said. "I almost have enough songs for an album. I'll call it 'Sing Crimson.'"
All of Haden's a cappella projects are self-recorded, usually in Garageband. In 2005, she released "Petra Haden Sings: The Who Sell Out" -- an a cappella cover album of the The Who's "The Who Sell Out" from 1967.
Among the early admirers of Haden's work was The Who guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend.
"I heard the music as if for the first time," Townsend told EW in 2005. "I listened all the way through in one sitting and was struck by how beautiful a lot of the music was. Petra's approach is so tender and generous. I adore it."
In 2015, Haden provided vocals for Bill Hader's character in "Gentle & Soft: The Blue Jean Committee Story" on the season one finale of IFC's "Documentary Now."
