The 2017 Barbershop Harmony Society International Convention in Las Vegas is underway and has already crowned a new Young Barbershop Quartet champion -- Flightline.

Singing "The Nearness Of You" and "Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)," the young quartet from Orange County, CA clinched the division title on Tuesday after "posting A-level scores comparable to those in the open division contest, which begins Wednesday".

The Top 5 Youth Quartets:

1. Flightline 1,449 points, 80.5%
2. Ohana Means Family 1,429 points, 79.4%
3. Blindside 1,416 points, 78.7%
4. Eclectones 1,402 points, 77.9%
5. Brothers In Arms 1,395 points, 77.5%

2017 Youth Barbershop Quartet Competition Highlights

This was the fifth year Flightline competed, taking home the silver medal last year. Flightline consists of Oscar Sotelo on tenor, Daniel Huitt on lead, Marcus Kang on baritone, and Kyle Williamson on bass.

"As champions", BHS wrote, "the quartet earns bragging rights, notoriety, and a springboard to the big contest, which has increasingly been dominated by past college champions and offshore quartets such as the recent champion Musical Island Boys from New Zealand".
