10. The Lucy Show - "Lucy's Barbershop Quartet" (1963)

In season 1, episode 19 of Lucy's follow-up show to "I Love Lucy," a member of the fire department's barbershop quartet is moving, and Lucy wants to take her place. Desperate for a fourth member so they can compete in a big contest, the women are forced to let her join. Though Lucy speaks loudly, they can barely hear her sing. They call in a vocal coach to teach her how to project, which might not have been the best idea.

9. Petitcoat Junction - "The Barbershop Quartet" (1968)

Barbershop can get cutthroat. Yes, pun intended.  In season 5, episode 20 of "Petitcoat Junction," Uncle Joe (Edgar Buchanan) organizes a barbershop quartet, only to be kicked out of the group because of his off-key singing. Seeking revenge, Joe sets about to fix an upcoming talent contest so that the quartet will lose and Selma Plout's daughter, Henrietta (Lynette Winter), will cop first prize. Uncle Joe and Sam's friendship hits the rocks when Joe concludes that he's the reason his barbershop quartet has no chance of winning a talent contest.

8. Home Improvement - "The Flannels" (1998)

The Dapper Dans are back as "The Flannels" this time, on the second episode of the eighth season of "Home Improvement" called "Adios." The Flannels are Dapper Dans' Jim Campbell, Shelby Grimm, Bill Lewis, and Tim Reeder. Seen here, they're singing the theme song for show-within-the-show, "Tool Time."

7. Talk of The Town - Noel's Addicts (1992)

Barbershop may have originated as an American art form, but there are fantastic groups from all over the world.  In 1991, Talk of the Town was on "Noel's Addicts" after becoming the UK's champion gold medalists at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS). They are also Harmony, Inc.'s 1988 champions.

The British National Quartet Competition has three phases: prelims, which are held in November; semifinals; and then finals, which are both held at the annual BABS Convention, normally held in May.

6. Rural Route 4 on PBS' "Keep America Singing" (1994)

"Keep America Singing" is a TV special from PBS that featured barbershop-style music performed at the Cincinnati Music Hall in 1994. It was followed up by "Voices in Harmony: More Keep America Singing" in 1996.

Rural Route 4 won what was then the SPEBSQSA International Competition in 1986. They are known for their signature costumes of matching overalls in keeping with the rural theme of their group at venues where formal attire is expected.

5. Family Guy - Bad News Quartet (2005)

Family Guy is not known for its squeaky clean, family-friendly fun. Seen on several occasions, the quartet first popped up in season 4, episode 5, "The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire," in 2005. They next performed the full number,  the "Vasectomy Song" in episode 22 of season 4, "Sibling Rivalry." The quartet was also a part of the Emmy-winning "It's A Wonderful Day For Pie" in 2009's season 8 premiere "Road to the Multiverse" as singing bees.

The lead tenor is voiced by Jon Joyce. The other tenor is voiced by Bob Joyce. The baritone by Rick Logan and bass is by Randy Crenshaw.

Most of the time, the quartet is not singing "accurate" barbershop harmony. Most of the time, the high tenor sings the melody, whereas the melody usually belongs to the lower lead tenor.

4. Night Court - "Another Day in the Life" (1988)

This Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame group booked a spot on "Night Court" soon after its first appearance on "Cheers" in 1985. The 139th Street Quartet was formed in 1975.

3. TV ONE New Zealand - Musical Island Boys (2009)

Internationally award-winning barbershop quartet from Wellington, New Zealand, the Musical Island Boys were featured on the "Good Morning Show" in December 2009. The Musical Island Boys won the International Barbershop Singing Convention in 2014.

2. Jackie Gleason Show - "The Great One For President" (1966)

After winning the 1961 SPEBSQSA Championship, the Suntones became more active touring, performing, and recording. In 1966, Jackie Gleason moved his popular TV variety show to Miami and hired the Suntones to sing both as a barbershop quartet and as backing singers. The Suntones are Gene Cokeroft, Bob Franklin, Harlan Wilson, and Bill Cain.

1. Andy Williams Show - Osmond Brothers

Andy Williams' father saw the Osmond Brothers and was so impressed he told his son to book them for his TV show. Andy did, and the Osmond Brothers were regulars on the show from 1962-69, singing songs like "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" and "Lida Rose." They earned the nickname "One-Take Osmonds" among staff due to their professionalism and tireless rehearsing.
